BIOGRAPHY
Abdul Awan Rauf was born in Mianwali which is a district in Punjab well known for its diverse population of Punjabi and Pashtun ethnicities. His forefathers were landowners and farmers and he was raised in a feudal system. His family is involved in the business of growing crops and uses their land as one of their sources of earning. His parents belong to Harnoli city, situated in the Piplan tehsil, where Rauf was born too. Being born and raised in Mianwali, he is a fluent speaker of the ancient Siraiki language which dates back to 4500 years from the time of the Indus Valley Civilization. He is the eldest of four children and has three younger siblings.
He got his early education till Intermediate from his hometown and attended the Pakistan Atomic Energy College. To pursue higher education, Bachelors and law degree, Rauf moved to Islamabad and got admitted into International Islamia University. He is the first one in his family to have studied law and was attracted to the legal profession because of his family background of conventional, eastern dispute resolution methods. Belonging to a feudal system, Rauf grew up witnessing how the jirga / panchayat system works in rural areas of Pakistan. Since then he had a passion to associate himself with a profession through which he could serve humanity and understand the multi-layered dynamics of doing business and commerce outside urban areas. He started his law practice with the former Advocate-General of Islamabad and acquired special insight into the nuances of legal practice and problems between provinces and the federation in Pakistan. In his spare time, Rauf likes reading historical books and traveling. He plays different sports and has a deep interest in the national sport of Pakistan - hockey
